Published on November 6, 2019, Gor Mahia, the reigning Kenyan Premier League champions, are set to face Mathare United at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Wednesday.

The team's financial struggles have reached a boiling point, with players failing to turn up for training sessions due to unpaid salaries stretching back three months.

Coach Steven Polack expressed his concerns, saying, 'We have a game tomorrow yet nobody has turned up for training including the players who didn’t travel for the Motema Pembe game. I don’t know their whereabouts and it will be difficult to win games if we continue this way.'

A senior player, who wished to remain anonymous, echoed Polack's sentiments, stating, 'I can’t continue playing for the badge yet I'm broke. They have been giving us small amounts of money which don’t help us much. I won’t be going to Machakos for the game against Mathare United and this could end up being a walkover from the look of things.'

Polack has warned his players to be wary of Mathare United, who have a history of beating Gor Mahia, with their last win dating back to 2016.

Meanwhile, in Kisumu, Western Stima will host coastal side Bandari at Moi Stadium, with Bandari's coach, Bernard Mwalala, reportedly on his way to Yanga SC of Tanzania.
