Published on November 5, 2019, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has made it clear that he will not leave office before 2022.
Speaking after a grilling at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Sonko stated that he has contributed immensely to the city's growth and will not be rushed out of office by cartels.
He accused the cartels of being corrupt politicians who have failed to maneuver through the city via their dishonest deals, and are now drumming for his ouster from office.
"The cartels want me out of office so that they loot your money," Sonko told the public.
He reiterated that he was duly elected as the governor of Nairobi and that nobody will threaten his governance before his first term comes to its rightful end.
Despite baseless threats from the city cartels, Sonko assured the public that he would clean the city of all the filth and corruption before 2022, even if it meant locking up his own political friends and other government leaders.
He warned the city cartels to stay clear of the activities around the city if they wanted peace, and that in the scenario they remained adamant, he would be compelled to unleash his administrative authority on them.
