Published on November 5, 2019, the Ministry of Health listed the Aga Khan University Hospital's Roysambu medical centre among 811 clinics set to be closed for allegedly failing to meet required standards.

The hospital management maintains that the Roysambu Medical and Dialysis Centre on Thika Road is duly registered by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (KMPDB).

According to a statement from the hospital, the management has been in contact with KMPDB to correct the discrepancy that led to the erroneous placement of the medical centre on the list.

The hospital asserts that the Roysambu Medical and Dialysis Centre is resourced by highly trained and experienced medical staff, who attend to patients, and is registered in accordance with rule 4(3) of the Medical Practitioners and Dentists (Medical Institutions) and the Nairobi County Government.

The AKUH medical and dialysis centre at Jewel Complex in Roysambu, which is only seven months old, is expected to serve as a medical and dialysis centre.
