World number one tennis player Rafael Nadal has confirmed he will compete at the season-ending ATP Tour Finals in London from November 10-17, despite a slight strain to his left abdominal muscle.

On Tuesday, Nadal tweeted that he would be heading to London for the tournament, after undergoing an MRI in Majorca the previous day.

"Yesterday I had an MRI in Majorca and despite a slight strain to the left abdominal muscle I will go to London," Nadal tweeted.

He added, "Thursday or Friday I will start hitting services. The idea is to play the ATP Finals. Thanks for your support."

Nadal's decision to compete in the tournament comes after he was forced to withdraw from last week's Paris Masters due to the same injury.

However, his participation in the ATP Tour Finals will be under threat from Novak Djokovic, who has been in top form this season and is looking to reclaim the year-end top ranking.

The eight top-ranked players in the world will gather in London for the tournament, with Nadal's world number one ranking set to be under threat from Djokovic.
