Kenya's Education Cabinet Secretary, Prof. George Magoha, has confirmed the arrest of eleven individuals in Kisii County for alleged impersonation in the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations (KSCE). The arrests were made on November 5, 2019, as part of the government's efforts to ensure the integrity of the national exams.

According to Prof. Magoha, the suspects were from a private institution, Miliman Ramasha Academy, and had fake Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) registers, complete with photographs, to deceive examination officials.

Prof. Magoha also revealed that the owner of the school was among those arrested and handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.

As part of the government's efforts to prevent cheating, Prof. Magoha directed all examination center managers to ensure that school gates remained open and additional security officers would be posted to schools with larger candidature.

Prof. Magoha emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring the credibility of the national exams, not only in Kenya but also internationally. He warned that drastic action would be taken against anyone involved in cheating, including teachers registered by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

State Department for Wildlife Principal Secretary, Prof. Richard Segor, also emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring the credibility of the national exams. He warned that nobody should attempt to access examination materials before the stipulated time and asked parents to stop pressuring their children to excel with high grades.
