As the men's hockey league enters its final stages, the battle for the runners-up spot is heating up with Wazalendo set to host Greensharks on Wednesday at City Park.
With Butali Sugar Warriors already on course to retaining the title, the focus has shifted to the second spot, which guarantees direct entry to next year's Africa Cup for Club Championships.
Wazalendo currently sits second in the standings with 29 points, seven points ahead of third-placed Greensharks, who have 23 points after 14 matches.
According to Greensharks head coach Ben Owaga, his team is seeking sweet revenge against Wazalendo, who defeated them 3-0 in the opening match of the season.
"I know Wazalendo is a good side, but we are ready for the match," Owaga said in an interview with Citizen Digital.
Former champions Kenya Police and Western Jaguars are also in contention for the second spot, which is currently occupied by Wazalendo.
After their clash against Wazalendo, Greensharks will face Nairobi Simba, followed by a match against Kenya Police, before wrapping up the season with a clash against champions Warriors.
Despite the pressure, Owaga remains calm, saying that the season has been good for his team, although they dropped unnecessary points along the way.
