Waihiga Mwaura, a renowned journalist and news anchor, has been appointed as the new host of Citizen TV's News Night show, effective immediately. This move comes after Hussein Mohamed's 10-year tenure at the station came to an end last week.

Waihiga has a strong background in journalism, having started his career as a sports journalist. He has also worked on several investigative pieces, including the 'Mara Heist' exposé, which exposed the alleged corruption at Masai Mara University, and 'Waiting on Health,' which highlighted the challenges faced by patients in public hospitals.

Waihiga's appointment as News Night host is a testament to his exceptional journalism skills and his ability to deliver high-quality content to the audience. He has won several awards, including the prestigious BBC Komla Dumor award, which he received in 2018.

Waihiga has also been involved in several high-profile investigations, including the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics scandal, where he testified against claims that his story was based on hearsay. The scandal led to the charging of several sports officials, including former Sports Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario and ex-NOCK official Stephen Soi, with abuse of office and misappropriation of Ksh.55 million.

Waihiga's new role as News Night host is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the show, and his experience in investigative journalism will undoubtedly contribute to the production of high-quality content.
