The letter, which was written by a single mother who lives on the same road as the couple, revealed that she had been secretly in love with the husband and wanted to marry him and start a family.
According to the woman's post on Mumsnet, her husband had become friendly with the single mother after often walking the same way on the school run. The single mother had even asked the husband for his contact details so they could keep in touch after she moved away.
However, the husband's wife discovered a letter from the single mother to her husband, confessing undying love and stating that she wanted to marry him and have children.
The wife's post sparked a heated debate, with many critics pointing fingers at the husband for his alleged involvement in the situation.
One user wrote, 'Nobody declares their love like this unless they've been led on. I think your husband is being unfaithful here. He hasn't discouraged her at all.'
Another user said, 'No. This is aaaallll on your husband. You're absolutely right, he's making her think she stands a chance. He could have shut this down ages ago, but he didn't. He's loving it. Why has he even kept the letter?'
A third user bluntly stated, 'No. She is irrelevant to you, your husband is to blame. When he gets home from work tell him to leave and go and live with her.'
