November 2018 marked a turning point in the career of Joey Muthengi, a popular TV personality who had been co-hosting shows on Citizen TV.
Her decision to leave the station was sparked by a row with management over her involvement with Bet In, a betting company that had a competing product, Shabiki, with Royal Media, Citizen TV's parent company.
According to reports, Muthengi's deal with Bet In was seen as a conflict of interest by her bosses, leading to disciplinary action against her.
Instead of facing the consequences, Muthengi chose to exit the station, marking the end of her tenure as a co-host on The Daybreak and 10 over 10.
She later joined Voice of America (VOA) radio and Capital FM, but her time at Citizen TV had a lasting impact on her career.
Reflecting on her decision to leave, Muthengi took to social media to share her struggles, saying, 'Today marks one year since I left my last job. It was a very difficult decision and I had no idea where I was headed afterwards. Won't lie I've had some tough days.'
Despite the challenges, Muthengi remains grateful for the opportunities she has had and the people who have supported her along the way.
