On November 5, 2019, a bizarre incident unfolded in Kayole, Nairobi, where a colleague from the Administration Police Service (APS) and an employee of G4S company found themselves in police custody.

Elly Nyakomita, an officer attached to APS's Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit in Eastern regional headquarters in Embu, was arrested alongside Seth Odhiambo, a G4S employee, after they allegedly attempted to rob a bar owner in Obama.

The two suspects were detained at a police station in Kayole, where they were being held for questioning.

According to police records, the owner of the bar, Euphmia Akinyi, had called for police help after the two suspects demanded money from her and threatened to handcuff her.

Police recovered a pair of handcuffs from the suspects, which were kept as exhibits.

It is alleged that the two suspects had taken alcohol at the bar before attempting to stage the alleged robbery.

Notably, neither of the suspects had their respective uniforms with them at the time of their arrest.
