On November 2, Bernard Odiwuor Oyolo, a middle-aged mechanic, committed a heinous crime in Nairobi. He strangled his wife, Lelila Anyango Okoth, to death and then rushed to Huruma Police Station demanding immediate arrest.

Police officers, however, took Oyolo into custody and detained him at the station. Corporal Isaac Kiplangat of Starehe DCI offices told Chief Magistrate Heston Nyaga that Oyolo's wife was found dead in their home in Westlands, Nairobi.

The body was moved to Chiromo Mortuary for postmortem. Kiplangat requested 14 days custodial orders to conclude investigations into the murder.

According to Kiplangat, Oyolo works at Jua Kali in Westlands, Nairobi, and needs to obtain his psychiatrist report and record witness statements. Oyolo has not recorded his statement and is likely to interfere with investigations if released.

He will be presented before court after 14 days.
