On Monday, the first day of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams, a mix-up occurred at Olympic Secondary School in Kibra, Nairobi. A KCSE examination supervisor was arrested after she unknowingly opened the wrong examination papers.
According to Kibra Deputy Commissioner Gideon Ombogi, the supervisor was issuing out the English Paper 1 exams when she accidentally handed out the wrong papers, English Paper 2, to some of the candidates.
Fortunately, the mistake was caught before the students could access the contents of the papers, and they were recalled immediately. The incident occurred before the scheduled time for the English Paper 2 exam.
The supervisor was taken to Kilimani Police Station for further questioning. Commissioner Ombogi assured that the exam did not leak, as the supervisor did not display the contents of the paper.
The KCSE exams began on Monday, with 699,745 candidates sitting for the tests across the country.
