Published on November 5, 2019, a Kampala-based mechanic has accused Ugandan musician Jose Chameleone of defaulting on a Sh305,000 debt.
The debt was incurred after the mechanic repaired Chameleone's Escalade vehicle, which he claims has been almost three months since the work was done.
Speaking to Spark TV, the mechanic, who works at Kasim Auto Spares in Kampala, said he has attempted to collect his dues from Chameleone on several occasions but to no avail.
According to the mechanic, the repairs included a new gearbox, brake fluid, computer and programming, front hub and bearings, fuel nozzles, plugs, tyre repairing, and labour charges.
Chameleone allegedly left a dilapidated Subaru as collateral for the Ush11million debt, which the mechanic claims is worth only USh3 million (about Sh80,000).
The mechanic has since reported the matter to Katwe Police Station.
