Leopards coach Andre Cassa Mbungo has expressed his disappointment with the refereeing in their 0-0 draw against Ulinzi Stars on November 2 at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos County.

According to Mbungo, centre referee Philip Bruke denied his team a penalty when forward John Mark Makwata was brought down in the danger area by Ulinzi midfielder Edgar Mukolwe.

“To me, I can say that (foul on Makwatta) was a straight penalty. He was on the verge of scoring but he was clearly brought down by Mukolwe. The referee was not far from the incident but he denied us a spot kick,” Mbungo lamented.

Despite the missed opportunity, Leopards extended their unbeaten run to eight games, having lost only once in their opening game of the season against Kakamega Homeboyz.

Ulinzi Stars' coach Benjamin Nyangweso, however, hailed his team's robust defence, saying they made sure that Makwata and Hansel Ochieng did not get a chance to score.

Meanwhile, Tusker FC leads the log with 16 points, followed by Gor Mahia and Leopards in second and third positions respectively with 15 points apiece.
