On Sunday, Geoffrey Kamworor of Kenya made a stunning comeback to win the New York Marathon title for the second time, clocking 2 hours, 8 minutes, and 13 seconds.

Published on November 4, 2019, Kamworor's victory marked a remarkable double, having previously won the marathon in 2017 with a time of 2:10:53.

Albert Korir, who had won the Houston Marathon in February and the Ottawa Marathon in May this year, came in second with a time of 2:08:36. Girma Bekele Gebre from Ethiopia secured the last podium place in 2:08:38.

The men's race was highly competitive, with a pack of 11 athletes battling deep into the last 12 kilometers. Korir led the pack through 30 kilometers in 1:32:25, but Kamworor and Korir eventually broke away from the Ethiopians in the last four kilometers.

With four kilometers to go, Kamworor pulled ahead of Korir, securing his victory and reclaiming his New York Marathon title.
