November 4, 2019, marked a peculiar day in Kampala as a group of men, dubbed 'love niggers', came together to form a movement.

According to Ugandan musician Rehema Namakula, a 'love nigger' is a man who uses and dumps women or keeps a girlfriend for a long time without making a commitment.

Rehema's song, which exposed the shortcomings of these men, sparked a reaction from the lousy lovers, who instead of taking her criticism seriously, decided to treat the label as a badge of honour.

They have since formed the 'Love Niggers' movement, planning an annual general meeting and sponsoring a concert to which all who are proud to be identified as lousy lovers are invited.

It's a movement born from denial, where men refuse to accept their shortcomings and instead choose to celebrate their inability to treat women with tenderness and respect.
