Bayern Munich has parted ways with manager Niko Kovac, just a day after the team suffered a humiliating 5-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.

The loss left Bayern Munich in fourth place in the Bundesliga table, their worst position in 10 years.

According to Bayern Munich's Twitter account, Kovac's contract was terminated by mutual agreement, with former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho being considered as his replacement.

However, Hansi Flick, the team's assistant coach, will take over as interim manager until the end of the season, overseeing the team's matches against Olympiacos and Borussia Dortmund.

Kovac had been in charge of Bayern Munich since July last year, leading the team to a league title and a Champions League final appearance.
