On November 4, 2019, a tragic accident occurred near Longonot town along the Naivasha-Mai Mahiu road, claiming the life of a principal from a private school in Naivasha.
The principal, along with two colleagues, was on her way to collect KCSE exams papers when their personal car rammed into a stalled trailer.
According to eyewitness Peter Njoroge, the trailer was the main cause of the accident after the driver left it partially parked on the roadside, reducing visibility due to the dark and foggy morning conditions.
"The driver tried evading ramming the lorry from behind but ended hitting it on the side and in the process one woman died while two male passengers were injured," Njoroge said.
The injured principals were rushed to Kijabe mission hospital for treatment.
Despite the accident, the exams arrived in the schools on time, and education officials ensured that the students received their papers as scheduled.
Regional education coordinator John Ololtuaa confirmed that the deputy principals of the affected schools had been promoted to act as center managers during the exams.
