On Sunday, a police team visited a popular busaa den in Njiru, Nairobi, and arrested the owner and four others for operating an illegal business.

However, as the team was leaving, locals blocked their vehicle, claiming there was no criminality in brewing busaa, and started stoning the officers and the arrested individuals.

Police were forced to open fire in an attempt to disperse the crowd, resulting in three people being shot and injured.

The injured were taken to Mama Lucy Hospital for treatment, and authorities are investigating the incident.

Police raids on such premises in informal settlements have been on the rise, with claims of extortion being made against the officers.

However, the officers argue that the joints are dens used by suspected criminals.

It's worth noting that a similar incident occurred two months ago in Kahawa West, Kiambu, where a police raid resulted in the tragic death of a two-year-old boy.

Additionally, a suspected thug was shot dead in a botched robbery at a building in Matopeni area, Kayole, Nairobi, on Sunday night.
