Kenya's population has experienced a significant surge, with the latest census data revealing a total of 47,564,296 people in the country as of 2019.

Released on Monday, the 2019 census data show a notable increase of 9 million people compared to the 2010 census, which recorded a population of 38.6 million.

According to the data, women make up a larger portion of the population, with 24 million compared to 23.6 million men.

The intersex population stands at 1,524.

The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics presented the census report at State House in Nairobi, where President Uhuru Kenyatta was in attendance.

The most populous counties in the country are Nairobi, Kiambu, Nakuru, Kakamega, Bungoma, Meru, and Kilifi, with Nairobi boasting a population of 4.4 million and Kiambu and Nakuru each having over 2 million residents.

Additionally, 15 other counties have a population of over 1 million, led by Kakamega with 1.87 million, Bungoma with 1.67 million, Meru with 1.54 million, and Kilifi with 1.45 million.
