On September 25, 21-year-old Naomi Wambui was seen at the Kaptembwo Police Station's canteen in the company of a police officer, but her family claims there has been no clear communication from the station.
Naomi's father, Ng'ang'a Mwangi, reported her disappearance at the Kahawa Sukari Police Station on September 10, after she went missing from their home in Kahawa Wendani, Nairobi.
According to initial police reports, Naomi had gone to the station to seek financial help, claiming she did not have fare to travel to her rural home in Gilgil.
However, the family claims that officers at Kaptembwo Police Station have been uncooperative, and that an officer from the station escorted Naomi to the Gilgil matatu stage in Nakuru town, despite her having mental issues.
Naomi's family has petitioned the National Police Service for a report on her disappearance, and is demanding that the matter be investigated and officers at Kaptembwo Police Station be asked to explain what happened to Naomi.
Naomi was last seen at the Kaptembwo Police Station on September 25, and her family is still searching for her.
On October 31, Naomi's family sent a letter to Deputy Inspector General of Police Edward Mbugua, demanding that the National Police Service produce Naomi or disclose her whereabouts.
Naomi's case has been reported at several police stations, including Kamkunji, Ruiru, and Githurai Kimbo, but so far, no clue has been found about her current location.
Nakuru Town West police commander Patrick Olonyi said that investigations to establish Naomi's whereabouts are ongoing, but that they had no new information about her.
