On November 2, 2019, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) secured their spot in the final stage of the Africa Basketball qualifiers after a thrilling 81-78 win over South Sudan's Cobra Sports in Antananarivo, Madagascar.

The match was a testament to KPA's determination and skill, as they overcame a strong opposition from the brave South Sudanese team.

With this victory, KPA became the fifth team from the qualifying stages to qualify for the final stage, joining other teams such as Patriots of Rwanda, City Oilers of Uganda, Lions of Namibia, and Mozambique's Ferroviarro.

The top three teams from the Rwanda event, set to take place from November 26 to December 1, will automatically qualify for the inaugural Africa Basketball League that is scheduled to kick off in March 2020.

Michael Kazunguzibwa led the charge for KPA with 20 points, while Valentine Nyakinda contributed 16 points, Okal Koranga scored 14, and Anthony Kidong'o added 11.

Cobra's top scorers were Owen Majok, Stephen Rumudu, and Leek Malual, who each scored 18 points, with Alex Lado adding 17 more.

According to KPA coach Sammy Kiki, the team took their game against Cobra seriously, playing a well-refined side, and becoming aggressive to take advantage of their speed.
