On November 2, 2019, a Premier League match between Everton and Tottenham took a dramatic turn when Everton midfielder Andre Gomes suffered a serious injury.
Spurs' Son Heung-min was given a straight red card for his foul on Gomes, but it was the injury that changed the course of the game.
Dele Alli had given Tottenham a 1-0 lead just after the hour mark, but a lengthy delay for a VAR review over a potential handball by Alli inside his own area left the visitors frustrated.
However, it was the injury to Gomes that proved to be the turning point, and Tottenham failed to hold out for a first away win in the Premier League since January.
Substitute Cenk Tosun scored the equalizer for Everton in the 90th minute, securing a 1-1 draw.
The result does little to improve a poor start to the season for either side, with Everton hovering just one place above the relegation zone and Spurs remaining in the bottom half with 13 points from their first 11 games.
