On November 3, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta addressed a joint national thanksgiving prayer service for members of the disciplined services and their families at the Holy Family Basilica in Nairobi County.

During the service, the President assured members of the disciplined services that the ongoing reforms in the security sector, including modernization and transformation of the institutions, would continue.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by officers from the national security services and assured that the reforms would create a better working environment for the agencies.

“In recognition of the special circumstances that many of you have to operate in, I want to assure you that my Administration will continue to support modernization and transformation initiatives with a view of making your work conditions better and more progressive,” President Kenyatta said.

The President commended officers of the National Police Service, Kenya Prisons, National Youth Service, Kenya Forest Service, and Kenya Wildlife Service for their sacrifices in ensuring the country's safety.

He also paid tribute to gallant officers who lost their lives in the line of duty and challenged security officers to take an audit of their role and commit to serving Kenyans with utmost honesty and faithfulness.

Other speakers at the church service included Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang'i and Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai.
