Kenyan goalkeeper Patrick Matasi and midfielder John Avire have been called up by Harambee Stars coach Francis Kimanzi to join the team's squad for the 2021 AFCON qualifiers against Egypt and Togo.
The two players will join the team in Cairo and Nairobi for the two matches scheduled for November 14 and 19, respectively.
Matasi, who has been playing for St George in Ethiopia, is still waiting to start the new season of the Ethiopian Premier League, while Avire is facing challenges with his club, Sofapaka, which is competing with Tanta FC for his services.
The Sofapaka chairman, Elly Kalekwa, who recently announced that he values Avire at KSh20 million, has filed a complaint with FIFA to resolve the issue.
The Harambee Stars squad will face Egypt in the AFCON qualifiers, with Patrick Matasi, Timothy Odhiambo, and Ian Otieno set to be the team's goalkeepers.
The team's defense will be led by Johnstone Omurwa, Harun Shakava, Joash Onyango, Daniel Sakari, Hillary Wandera, Erick Ouma, Joseph Okumu, Samuel Olwande, and others.
The midfield will feature Anthony Akumu, Johanna Omollo, Kenneth Muguna, Ayub Timbe, Victor Wanyama, Boniface Muchiri, Lawrence Juma, Cliff Nyakeya, Erick Johanna Omondi, Whyvone Isuza, and others.
The team's attack will be led by Michael Olunga, Jesse Were, John Avire, and John Mark Makwatta.
