On November 3, 2019, a devastating attack shook the central town of Bandiagara in Mali, leaving a trail of destruction and loss of life.

According to the Malian army, two soldiers were killed and six others injured when their armoured vehicle hit an improvised explosive device.

The incident was confirmed by the military in a tweet, stating, "A vehicle of the Malian armed forces hit an improvised explosive device" near Bandiagara.

Unfortunately, this attack is part of a larger pattern of violence in the region, which has seen a surge in jihadist attacks claiming hundreds of lives.

Just days prior, on November 1, 2019, an attack on a military base in the eastern Menaka region left 49 Malian soldiers dead.

On November 2, 2019, a French soldier lost his life in the same region after his armoured vehicle struck an improvised explosive device.

The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for both attacks, highlighting the growing threat of terrorism in the region.
