Kibra By-Election: MP Sylyvanus Osoro Promises Voters KSh 500 to Back Jubilee Candidate

As the Kibra by-elections heat up, politicians are resorting to desperate measures to win over voters. In a video that has emerged on social media, South Mugirango MP Sylyvanus Osoro is seen promising women from the Kisii community KSh 500 each to vote for Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga.

According to the video, Osoro initially planned to give the women KSh 200 but changed his mind and decided to increase the amount to KSh 500. The women, who were clearly money-hungry, responded in unison, promising to vote for Mariga as early as 6am.

"When I came here to see you I was planning to give you two hundred, but now I have changed my mind I will give you KSh 500 for you to vote for Mariga, or you are playing me?" Osoro posed.

The women responded with a chorus of "usiwe na wasi wasi" (don't worry) as they promised to vote for Mariga.

This is not the first time that Jubilee party and its affiliate members have been accused of publicly dishing out money to locals in an attempt to woo them to vote for Mariga. There have been claims that some residents of Kibra have been visiting nearby Lang'ata constituency where they have been given handouts with the promise that they will vote for Mariga.

It remains to be seen whether these handouts will translate into votes on November 7.
