November 2, 2019, marked a significant day for Eliud Kipchoge and Brigid Kosgei as they claimed top honors at the Abbott World Marathon Majors Series XII Awards.
At the event held in New York City, Kipchoge emerged victorious, beating out Ethiopian athletes Lelisa Desisa and Birhanu Legese to take home the award. He garnered 50 points, surpassing the 41 points earned by the Ethiopians.

Brigid Kosgei also accumulated 50 points, outpacing her fellow female athletes, including Ethiopia's Ruti Aga and Kenya's Vivian Cheruiyot. Kosgei's impressive performance earned her a share of the Ksh25 million prize money, which she will split with Kipchoge.
Both Kipchoge and Kosgei have had an impressive year, with Kipchoge setting a world record at the BMW Berlin Marathon in September 2018 and Kosgei winning the 2018 Bank of America Chicago Marathon in October 2018.
