On a Saturday afternoon in Nanyuki, the Kenya Handball Federation National League witnessed a thrilling match between Nanyuki and Generations at the Kaloleni grounds in Nairobi.
Despite being under pressure, especially in the second half, Nanyuki managed to secure a 32-27 win, thanks to the efforts of Jores Nzioka and Joel Kingori, who contributed nine and seven goals respectively.
Generations, however, had a combined tally of 15 goals from Celestine Okoyana and Raul Alexander, but it was not enough to secure a win.
Nanyuki's coach, Nancy Owaga, acknowledged that Generations is a decent side, stating, "We had to utilise every chance we got because our opponents put us under a lot of pressure especially in the second half where we struggled with speed. Generations is a tougher team than we thought but I’m glad we won."
On the other hand, Generations player-coach Okoyana expressed disappointment, saying, "That was a disappointing match because we should have done better. We need to work hard in training to pick ourselves up in the next match."
Meanwhile, in other matches, Gunners profited from a walkover against Warriors, who failed to turn up on time, while Boomerang completed their clean sweep with a 37-21 win over Thika.
Results from the day's matches included:
- Nanyuki 32- Generations 27
- Mount Kenya University Thika 48- Warriors 28
- Boomerang 37- Thika 21
