Deputy President William Ruto made headlines in Nakuru on November 2, 2019, when he abandoned his convoy to take a free boda boda ride in Salgaa area.

According to a Facebook post, Ruto was in the area to launch the rehabilitated Salgaa-Rongai road, a project aimed at improving infrastructure and stimulating trade and growth.

During the event, Ruto addressed the area residents, stressing the government's commitment to expanding and upgrading the country's road network.

"We are dedicated to expanding and upgrading our road network across the country to stimulate trade, enhance competitiveness and trigger the flow of investments," Ruto affirmed.

After his speech, Ruto surprised the crowd by taking a free boda boda ride, which was offered by a local rider identified as Jafferson Tanui alias Jamaa wa Boda.

As seen in the photos shared on Facebook, Ruto and his rider seemed to be enjoying the experience.

It's worth noting that Ruto's visit to Nakuru was not limited to the road launch. He also visited the home of a village elder who had recently passed away and connected his family to electricity.

"Crucially, we are linking every household and business to affordable and reliable power to increase productivity and boost growth," Ruto added.
