Published on November 2, 2019, a report by Weekly Citizen exposed a deep-seated corruption scandal at the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), with Director General Eng Peter Mundinia at the helm.
Eng Mundinia, linked to multibillion scams at the parastatal, was accused of pocketing former chairman Eng Erastus Mwongera.
Infighting has been rampant at KeNHA, with Eng Mundinia allegedly involved in witch-hunting and hounding out employees who refused to play along with his corrupt schemes.
Eng Mundinia's attempts to block the appointment of new board chair Eng Carey Orege, backed by opposition leader Raila Odinga, were thwarted.
Inside sources revealed that Eng Orege has been given a dossier by former managers Eng Mundinia hounded from plum positions, detailing all corruption cases and companies awarded tenders.
Anti-graft agencies are now investigating the bank accounts of top managers, including those of their girlfriends.
