On November 1, 2019, Ethic Music Group released a new song titled 'Tarimbo', sparking controversy with moral policeman Ezekiel Mutua.
The song's video features semi-nude women twerking and dancing in explicit styles, but it's the lyrics that have incensed everyone, including Dr. Mutua.
Rekles' chorus in the song contains the line: 'Bas, bas joo kama ana maringo, mi hupenda chapa na tarimbo, mi huchapachapa na kanyaga namwaga bila hata permission.'
Dr. Mutua took to social media to express his outrage, stating that he had written to Google to take down the song from YouTube.
He also called for the Department of Criminal Investigations to arrest the group for promoting violence against women, saying it was a criminal act that went beyond the prescribed delimitations on freedom of expression.
'I have spoken to Google to take down the damn crap called Tarimbo by Ethic Entertainment which advocates for rape of women. Promoting violence against women is criminal. The DCI should arrest the entire bunch of musicians called Ethic, under Article 33, for going beyond the prescribed delimitations on freedom of expression by advocating for violence against women,' Dr. Mutua said.
