On November 1, 2019, Ethic dropped their new song 'Tarimbo', which has sparked controversy due to its explicit content and lyrics.
The song's chorus, sung by Rekles, contains lyrics that have been interpreted as advocating for rape against women.
Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, the CEO of the Kenya Film Classification Board, has taken to social media to express his outrage over the song.
He has written to Google, requesting that they remove the song from YouTube, citing its promotion of violence against women.
Dr. Mutua also called for the arrest of the music group under Article 33, stating that they have gone beyond the prescribed delimitations on freedom of expression by advocating for violence against women.
Many Kenyans have also taken to social media to express their shock and disappointment over the song's lyrics.
As of now, Ethic Entertainment has not issued a statement regarding the controversy surrounding their song.
