Published on November 2, 2019, Rosette Mugidde Wamambe's autobiography, The Expatriate Wife, offers a candid look at her life as a career woman, mother, and wife.
Wamambe's journey began when she was faced with the choice of pursuing a corporate legal career or becoming a stay-at-home mother. She chose the latter over 10 years ago.
Her father had always encouraged her to become a lawyer, but her A-level results did not meet the threshold for a scholarship to Makerere University. Instead, she enrolled in the private scheme at the Makerere University Law School.
Wamambe's life took a significant turn when she met and married Benjamin Wamambe in 2004. She joined Total Uganda Ltd and later attained a Master of Science in Human Resource Management and Development.
However, when Benjamin took up an appointment with the African Development Bank in Tunis, Tunisia, in 2007, Wamambe was forced to make tough decisions. She quit her job and accompanied her husband, but soon found herself on a self-discovery journey.
Wamambe's journey took her to Abidjan, Ivory Coast, and later to South Africa, where she occupied herself by writing about human resource management topics in the Uganda Law Society Newsletter.
She later launched her Fulfilled Life blog in 2016, which helped her tap into her love of reading and sharing what she had learned.
Wamambe's book, The Expatriate Wife, tackles the challenges faced by expatriate wives and reflects the cycle of life. She shares her own experiences, including her realization that life is a series of ridges, and that every peak is vastly different, but not any less enjoyable.
