On November 2, 2019, media personality and social activist Adelle Onyango launched the Safe24/7 initiative, a campaign aimed at providing survivors of rape with professional counseling and a toolkit with coping skills.
The initiative, dubbed Safe24/7, will take survivors through a 10-week group therapy course, providing them with a safe space to heal and recover from their traumatic experiences.
Adelle Onyango has partnered with the international NGO, Carolina For Kibera, to build this program, and is now calling on the public for support to make the group therapy program a reality.
On November 25, the campaign will kickstart a fundraising push to support the initiative, and Adelle is requesting video recordings from supporters to be used during the fundraising period.
Adelle's statement reads: 'We would love to have a video recording from you that we will use during the fundraising period. If you'd like to participate, please send me a short video recording of yourself saying: who you are, where you're from, and 'I believe every woman deserves to be safe 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.'
