On November 1, 2019, Majority Leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale declared his independence from Deputy President William Ruto, stating he's not a 'tittle deed' to be owned by anyone.
According to Duale, he has stopped taking orders from Ruto and is now faithfully serving President Uhuru Kenyatta in the National Assembly.
As the rift between Duale and Ruto widens, the Garissa Town MP has been a strong supporter of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), which Ruto has strongly opposed.
Furthermore, Duale has been noticeably absent from Ruto's weekend rallies and has not been seen campaigning for the Jubilee Party's candidate in the Kibra by-election.
"I'm not anyone's tittle deed and nobody owns me," Duale charged.
