Climate change is taking a toll on Kenya's agricultural productivity, with changing rainfall patterns and increased pests and diseases affecting farmers' profits.
Against this backdrop, the Nation Media Group's Seeds of Gold, in partnership with Egerton University and the Nakuru county government, will host the Rift Valley Edition of the Farm Clinic series on November 9, 2019, at Egerton University in Njoro, Nakuru.
The event, themed 'Enhancing food security through technology and innovation,' will focus on farm mechanisation, horticulture, maize and wheat farming, dairy and poultry production, and other farming areas.
More than seven topics will be addressed by experts, including farm mechanisation, horticulture, and dairy and poultry production.
Prof Paul Kimurto, a crop science expert at Egerton University, said the institution is ready to host the event and will have a pool of experts from different departments to help farmers address challenges.
"Farmers can rest assured that they will have a feel of some of the latest technologies and innovations in farming as well as the best management practices in agriculture and agribusiness, all administered by our experts," Prof Kimurto said.
The event will provide an opportunity for farming and agribusiness enthusiasts to interact with professionals in the different fields, as well as their peers.
It will also feature a farm tour and exhibition stalls, enabling farmers to interact one-on-one with specific agro-dealers and be given facts on improving their ventures.
