As of October 30th, 2019, US citizens and lawful permanent residents can now file Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, online through the USCIS website. This new online filing option allows petitioners to submit the form electronically, pay the applicable fee online, check the status of the application, receive updates from USCIS, and respond to requests for evidence electronically.

According to USCIS Acting Director Ken Cuccinelli, "Form I-130 is one of the most widely filed USCIS forms." He added that the agency is increasing the number of forms available for online filing to make its operations more effective and efficient.

USCIS has made several other forms available for online filing, including:

  • Form I-90, Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card
  • Form I-539, Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status
  • Form N-336, Request for a Hearing on a Decision in Naturalization Proceedings
  • Form N-400, Application for Naturalization
  • Form N-565, Application for Replacement Naturalization/Citizenship Document
  • Form N-600, Application for Certificate of Citizenship
  • Form N-600K, Application for Citizenship and Issuance of Certificate Under Section 322

USCIS still accepts paper applications for these forms by mail.
