As the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report nears release, Rift Valley leaders are waiting with bated breath for Deputy President William Ruto's stance on the document.
According to sources, a section of Jubilee leaders from the region has vowed to rally behind Ruto's direction after the report is made public.
They insist that the BBI is aimed at scuttling Ruto's presidential ambitions, with some leaders questioning the initiative's good faith.
“Remarks by ODM leader Raila Odinga targeted at Dr Ruto is a clear indication that BBI is not in good faith,” Bomet Senator Dr Christopher Lang'at told the Nation on November 1, 2019.
North Rift elders, led by former Nandi County Council chairman Charles Tanui, also weighed in on the matter, saying Ruto's stance will be a guide for the region.
“When the BBI report goes for public debate, Central Kenya will support the position taken by President Uhuru Kenyatta while Rift Valley will rally behind Dr Ruto. Nyanza and Coast on the other hand will support the position taken by Mr Odinga,” said Tanui.
