A landlord in Dagoretti North has surprised many by reducing rent for his tenants in the Muhu area, citing the economic downturn as the reason.

According to a letter dated October 17, the landlord, Paul Newton, informed his tenants that they would now pay KSh 8,000 instead of KSh 10,000 in rent.

Newton explained that the decision was made after he realized that many of his tenants were struggling to pay rent due to the economic hardships.

"We understand that businesses have been tough for the past few months. As a result, we have decided to reduce the rent," the letter read.

Newton's tenants have hailed him as a 'God-send landlord' for his kind gesture.

"We were skeptical at first when we saw the letter, but we are grateful for the reduction in rent," said one of the tenants.
