Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa's tenure was marked by controversy, but he claims it was all orchestrated by Deputy President William Ruto. In a shocking revelation, Echesa alleges that Ruto instructed him to insult Raila Odinga, a move that ultimately led to his downfall.
According to Echesa, Ruto promised to protect him from any negative consequences, but instead, he was unceremoniously fired from the cabinet on March 1, 2019. The Executive Order vacating his appointment cited Article 152(5) of the Constitution, as read together with Article 152(1)(d) of the Constitution.
Speaking candidly, Echesa revealed that he was left feeling betrayed and used by Ruto. 'I knew I was well protected, but it turned out I was wrong,' he lamented. The former CS served for just one year, a month, and two days, having been appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta on January 26, 2018.
Echesa's anger towards Ruto is palpable, and he has warned Kenyans to be wary of the Deputy President's intentions. 'He used me and dumped me unceremoniously, is that even human?' he posed. Echesa has since gone home to focus on his personal development projects but remains critical of Ruto's actions.
