Published on November 1, 2019, a family's desperate plea for help has shed light on the enforced disappearance of a Kenyan employee in South Sudan.

Ashford Mwangi Mburu, a driver for Simba Coach bus company, went missing in March 2019 after an accident in South Sudan. His family claims that the company colluded with South Sudanese officials to have him arrested and detained.

According to a petition posted on Facebook by Peter Mwangi, Ashford's father, the family has been unable to locate their son despite numerous efforts to seek help from the Kenyan foreign office, human rights organizations, and the bus company itself.

The family alleges that Simba Coach has been snitching on Ashford to the Kenyan Mission in South Sudan, distorting the story to their liking. The victim's mother has been psychologically affected, and the family's daily lives have been severely impacted.

The Kenyan government's inaction and unwillingness to investigate Ashford's disappearance demonstrate a total disregard for his fundamental rights and exacerbate the family's suffering.
