On October 31, Entebbe High Court Justice Jane Abodo delivered a guilty verdict in the case of Godfrey Wamala, alias Troy, who was accused of murdering Ugandan singer Mowzey Radio.

Wamala was found guilty of manslaughter, not murder, and was sentenced to 14 years in jail. However, considering that he had already served one year, eight months, and 26 days on remand in Kigo Prison, he will spend 13 years, three months, and four days in prison.

Justice Abodo noted that Wamala has the right to appeal the ruling.

The case dates back to February 1, 2018, when Mowzey Radio died just hours after Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni donated Sh830,000 towards his medical bills. Radio had been in hospital for 10 days receiving treatment for head injuries sustained in a brawl at a night club.

According to a witness, David Washington, Wamala physically harmed Radio in the brawl, which led to Radio's death.

Wamala had denied murdering Radio, but the evidence presented in court led to the guilty verdict.
