Kenyan artistes have been called out for their lack of support for fellow musicians. Fena Gitu, a singer, took to Twitter to express her frustration over the selfishness of her peers.

Her sentiments were inspired by the recent album launch of Elani, a Kenyan music group. The event was poorly attended by local musicians and celebrities, with only a handful of artistes in attendance.

Fena Gitu drew parallels to her own album launch, which was also poorly attended. She revealed that she only counted four artistes at her listening party, and a similar number at Elani's event.

"KENYAN ARTISTS BARELY SHOW UP FOR FELLOW ARTISTS," Fena Gitu tweeted. "There were like 4 artists (one who is my best friend so it doesn’t count) at my listening party, and a handful last night @elanimuziki's listening party. Na tunataka fans watusupport. Anyway, album ni ya mafans, ama?"

Her comments have sparked a debate on social media, with some artistes defending their actions and others expressing support for Fena Gitu's sentiments.
