Wilson Sossion, the KNUT Secretary General, has been removed from the Teachers Service Commission's official teachers' register, marking an end to a year-long dispute between the two parties.
The TSC announced the removal in a gazette notice dated October 29, stating that Sossion was no longer eligible to teach in any school due to his involvement in politics, which is seen as a breach of the teacher's code of ethics.
According to the gazette notice, 'Pursuant to section 30 of the Teachers Service Commission Act, the TSC has removed the name of the individual named hereunder from the register of teachers. Further under the law, the individual cannot engage in teaching in any school.'
The removal of Sossion from the TSC register brings an end to a series of court battles between the two parties, with Sossion accusing the TSC of trying to oust him forcefully and unlawfully from his position at KNUT.
