As the Kibra by-election contest reaches its final stages, Jubilee Party candidate McDonald Mariga has turned to divine intervention for a boost in his campaign.
On Friday morning, Mariga visited Deputy President William Ruto's altar at his official Karen residence, where he was anointed by Ruto's wife Rachel and a pastor.
State House Secretary of Digital Communication Dennis Itumbi shared pictures of the anointment on social media, showing Mariga on his knees as the pastor and Rachel Ruto held a bottle over his head.
Itumbi wrote, 'We Pray for You, Macdonald Mariga. May God be your shepherd? It has been said before, “Leadership is not about titles, positions or flowcharts. It is about one life influencing another.” Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”.'
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) had gazetted November 7, 2019, as the date for the Kibra parliamentary by-election.
