On November 1, 2019, Deputy President William Ruto's wife, Rachel Ruto, was leading a prayer rally in Emgwen constituency when a stray dog attacked her.
According to eyewitnesses, Rachel Ruto had met with a group of women before the incident occurred, and it was later revealed that there were dogs in the neighborhood but no one had confirmed if the front gate was safe for her.
During the prayer session, a black dog began barking and growling at Rachel Ruto, forcing everyone to scramble for safety. Unfortunately, she sustained dog bites on her left leg.
Samuel Kiplimo, a witness, stated, "It is unfortunate that her excellency sustained the dog's bites on the left leg but we are working to put the situation under control."
