On November 1, 2019, Kenyans took to social media to express their grievances against the Judiciary, accusing it of bias in the murder case involving Joseph 'Jowie' Irungu.

Led by Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino, Kenyans pointed out that other major murder suspects in the country have been given cash bails while Jowie has been denied.

According to Babu Owino, the Judiciary is being used to favor the rich, citing the cases of Governor Obado and Sarah Wairimu, who were granted cash bails despite being accused of murder.

Netizens have also taken to Twitter to air their grievances against the bias Judiciary under the hashtag #ReleaseJowieOnBail.

Justice James Wakiaga has denied Jowie bail twice, claiming that his application lacks merit.

The case against Jowie and his co-accused Jackie Maribe is ongoing, with Jowie charged with the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani.
