On November 1, 2019, a shocking revelation was made by a popular Kenyan DJ who confessed to living with HIV.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), HIV continues to be a major global public health issue, having claimed more than 32 million lives so far. In 2018, 770,000 people died from HIV-related causes globally.
On social media, an Instagram user asked people living with HIV to share their stories of how they got infected. The response was overwhelming, with many sharing their experiences.
A local DJ, who wishes to remain anonymous, made a bold statement, saying, 'I'm HIV+ AND IT'S SOMETHING I CAME to learn about it in 2017. Am a DJ and I get invited to events and clubs to perform. Women keep on hovering around me like bees and you know we're human. So if you (women) seduce me, I'll infect you, after all, you'll even glow and thicken with these ARVs trust me. It's not that bad, so live life... let them keep screwing raw and I'll be here to receive.'
Another follower, a lady from Moi University, shared her story, saying, 'I'm from Moi university and I don't know how I got HIV. I just went to a test centre once and they broke the news to me. I just thought it wasn't fair for me. I told my girls about it. I seduce men and because of my sexy body they cannot resist me.'
