On November 1, 2019, Deputy President William Ruto's wife, Rachel Ruto, hosted a special prayer for Kibra by-election candidate McDonald Mariga at the newly opened National Prayer Altar in the Ruto's residence in Karen.

According to Rachel Ruto's Facebook post, Mariga visited the National Prayer Altar during their weekly prayer and fasting fellowship, and they joined together in prayer to wish him the best as he runs for the seat of a member of parliament for Kibra constituency.

Rachel Ruto also posted a series of Bible verses to inspire the former footballer and asked him to put his trust in the Lord, be a prayerful man, and leave the rest to God.

Deputy President Ruto has been actively campaigning for the Jubilee candidate in Kibra, despite facing harsh criticism from their rivals ODM.

On Sunday, the DP spoke of a now-or-never situation and told Kibra people they are being given the opportunity to make the changes by voting for Mariga.
